🎲 The Duplicate Dilemma: How We Went From 179 Duplicates to Zero
By José on October 10, 2025
When I first built the puzzle generator for Sequentle, I thought the job was done. It created a new puzzle every day. But when I built a tool to test it over a full year, I was shocked: it was generating the same puzzle 179 times!
This kicked off a long and fascinating journey of debugging and redesign. The problem, I learned, was all about 'small ponds.' Some puzzle types, like simple geometric sequences, just don't have many unique options in a 0-100 range. My generator was fishing from these small ponds too often.
Through a collaborative process of vision-driven development with an AI assistant, we explored several solutions: increasing the number range, adding new high-variety puzzle types like 'Alternating Operations,' and even designing a 'Puzzle Editor' model that curated the difficulty throughout the week.
